Areas of Focus

We believe that diversity is one of the most vital assets possessed by our society today. Diversity is one of the keys to successful, thriving, innovative communities.  As such, we welcome proposals reflecting programming that focuses on achieving, capitalizing upon and striving for diversity and inclusion in all aspects of life.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We believe passionately in access to and equity in legal justice.  We support organizations whose mission is to establish balance in this area by focusing on providing access to legal justice to underserved populations, including youths and immigrant communities.

We believe that our homes are not just the physical structures that we rent or own but, more importantly, the communities in which we reside.  Through this area of focus, we offer support to those organizations whose vision focuses on communities that do not just survive but flourish.  We envision a world in which every neighborhood, urban or rural, has equal access to quality healthcare, affordable nutritious foods and fitness.  Organizations focusing on social services and mental health may also be considered.

We believe in equal rights for people, especially youths, of all walks of life, socio-economic backgrounds, gender and sexual orientations.  The Dworkin Foundation is specifically dedicated to addressing the issues and challenges faced by the LGBT communities — and especially LGBT youths — and salutes organizations working to make a difference in this important facet of life.

We know enough to know that we cannot possibly identify all projects that can really make a true difference in people’s lives.  All too often a project may generally align with the overarching principles of a funding institution, but just doesn’t fit “formally” into one of their established areas of focus.  This is the area through which you may apply!  Keep in mind that there does need to be alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the foundation, so be sure to indicate that clearly in your application and explain why your work is relevant to our mission.
